Nine Holes, Plenty of Stories

Duffed Fairway D Cap — Forest Green lifestyle

A round does not always need to take up the whole day. Sometimes there is a free morning, a gap between plans or just enough daylight to get out with a friend. Nine holes can be plenty.

There is still the first-tee conversation, the one shot you wish someone had filmed and the putt that somehow stops on the edge. The scorecard is shorter. The stories rarely are.

Make the plan easy

Agree the tee time, check the course arrangements and bring what you need for the round. If time is tight, let your playing partners know before you start so everyone has the same idea of the morning.

Choose something to notice

You might keep score as usual, or give yourself a small personal aim: a calmer first swing, a more considered club choice or simply putting the phone away between holes. Keep it light enough that it adds to the round.

Keep the good bits

Take a moment after the final green to remember your favourite shot. It might be a clean strike, a lucky bounce or a recovery that deserved a better result. Your playing partner will probably remember a different one.

Golf fits into life in more than one way. A short round, a familiar cap and a walk with good company can be enough to send you home in a better mood.
